Seven Ways to Turn a Beach Wedding Into Your Ideal Event

The beach can be a beautiful place to get married. With the sand and the water as your backdrop, the event is sure to be a memorable one. To make sure your dream wedding on the beach goes off without a hitch, consider these seven ideas.

1. Natural Decor

Getting married on the beach gives you the opportunity to incorporate natural decor into the venue. You can define the area with a border of leaves, palm fronds, or flower petals. Stringing nautical rope around the area could be a great idea, too. For the arch, you can use driftwood or bamboo so that it looks more organic. Draping white cloth around it and adding flowers to its corners can add a bit more to its style. Remember that nothing needs to be formal in a beach wedding, so you could go for an asymmetrical design.

2. Go for Simple Shoes or None at All

The simple beauty of the beach can inspire your footwear choices. You might want to leave your shoes behind and go barefoot. Or, you and your partner can don a pair of flip-flops. You’ll still be able to feel the sand when you’re walking but will have some protection from sharp rocks or shells that might be hidden in the sand.

 3. Plan a Sunset Wedding

When the sun sets over the ocean, it’s simply magical. Take advantage of this by planning your wedding for sunset. The soft lighting at this time of day can help enhance the quality of pictures as well. Remember that you’ll likely be taking a lot of pictures right after your ceremony, and you may want to take those pictures while the sun is still above the horizon. Account for that when scheduling a time for your wedding to begin.

4. Give Beach-Inspired Wedding Favors

To thank your guests for their presence, provide them with a wedding favor that goes with the beach theme. There are so many options, including sunglasses, beach towels, hats, and flip-flops.

5. Remember to Amplify the Sound

The sound of crashing waves is so nice to listen to, but it can overpower your wedding if you don’t use an audio system. A company can help you get set up with microphones and speakers so that your guests can hear everything.

6. Think About Flooring

You may want to have everything set up in the sand for a more natural experience. Just keep in mind that this might prove challenging in terms of setting up chairs, arches, speakers, and other items that need to be balanced in a certain way. You could have someone smooth the sand out ahead of time using a wide rake. Another idea is to use some sort of platform to create a flat surface. A platform could be used for the aisle, altar area, and/or seating area.

7. Check With the Municipality

Some beaches require permits for large gatherings. Check on the requirements well ahead of time so that you’re not subject to any fines or are prevented from hosting your wedding on the beach.
